REGULAR MEETING

OF THE

MARBLE ROCK CITY COUNCIL

Monday December 4, 2017 7:00 P.M.

 

The Regular Meeting of the Marble Rock City Council was called to order with Mayor Engelhardt presiding with Councilpersons Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, and T. Schriever. Various citizens were present. Mayor Engelhardt led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded Ackley to approve agenda. Roll: Ayes-All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to depart from agenda to accommodate guests. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Tracy Merfeld spoke on behalf of the Park Board and asked the council to pay a bill of $290.75 from Croell. The bill was for concrete to fill in the wall at the Park on Main St.

         

          Moved Marzen/seconded Ackley to the city paying the Croell bill of $290.75. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Marzen to return to the agenda. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to accept the minutes November 6, 2017 regular Meeting. Roll: Ayes-All. Carried.

 

           Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to approve the monthly reports. Roll: Ayes-All. Carried.

 

Income for the month of November totaled $28,233.37 which includes:  General Fund $5,485.52, Park Board $.36 Library Fund $45.61, Employee Benefits $720.06, Road Revenue Fund $3,545.99, TIF Fund $1,641.07, Landfill-Garbage/Recycling Fund $780.75, Sewer Revenue Fund $2,425.67, Water Revenue Fund $13,588.34.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to approval of claims in the amount of: $74,421.53. Roll: Ayes-All. Carried.

          MAYOR’S REPORT: Santa had a great turn out along with the Prairie Christmas. There were around 35 kids.

 

Moved T. Schriever/seconded Marzen to the first reading of Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-9 Refuse Collection Rates and Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-8,6-9-8, and 6-5-10 Regarding Utility Rates. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. All. Carried.

 

Moved C. Schriever/seconded T. Schriever to waive the second and third reading to Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-9 Refuse Collection Rates and Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-8,6-9-8, and 6-5-10 Regarding Utility Rates. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. All. Carried.

 

Moved Marzen/seconded C. Schriever to final approval and passage of Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-9 Refuse Collection Rates and Ordinance Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Marble Rock, Iowa, by Amending 6-5-8,6-9-8, and 6-5-10 Regarding Utility Rates. Roll: Ayes- Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. Nays- Ackley. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Marzen to appoint Ronnie Schriever to the Community Center Board. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to have January’s meeting on January 2nd at 7:00p.m. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Other items discussed: Iowa Economic Development Authority Community Catalyst Building Remediation Program was discussed. The Program offers Communities a 1:1 ratio of fund matching, with a max of $100,000. This would be for the demolition of a building with the intent to rebuild. The council discussed the potential of anyone wanting to construct a new building where The Rock is.
