REGULAR MEETING

OF THE

MARBLE ROCK CITY COUNCIL

Monday July 5th, 2017 7:00 P.M.

 

          The Regular Meeting of the Marble Rock City Council was called to order with Mayor Engelhardt presiding with Councilpersons Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, and T. Schriever. Various citizens were present. Mayor Engelhardt led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to approve agenda. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Schmidt/seconded C. Schriever to open public hearing on proposed Amendment to the Bradford Street Economic. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          With no public comment Marzen moved and T. Schriever seconded to close public hearing. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to depart from the Agenda to accommodate guests. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Marzen to close North Main Street in front of Whitetails on Aug. 5th. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded T. Schriever to close Maple Street on Aug 5th from 8:30a.m. to 3 p.m.. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to authorize the Mayor to spend money on the rental of a porta potty for the powerhouse for the summer months. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to allow the Park Board to remove bushes that are not memorial bushes or trees. Also to move the memorial tree with the permission of Mary Brinkman. Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Moved Ackley/seconded Schmidt to return to Agenda. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

         

           Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to accept the minutes June 5, 2017 regular Meeting. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

           Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to approve the monthly reports. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Income for the fiscal year 16-17 totaled $489,896.43 which includes:  General Fund $122,890.52, Park Board $3,533.00 Library Fund $22,832.39, Employee Benefits $25,253.44, Road Revenue Fund $41,265.01, TIF Fund $177,254.95, Landfill-Garbage/Recycling Fund $10,025.45, Sewer Revenue Fund $26,960.60, Water Revenue Fund $59,881.07.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to approval of claims in the amount of: $19,058.52. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

          MAYOR’S REPORT:

 

          Committee Reports: Marzen reported that the Park Board is looking into getting quotes for a new roof at the powerhouse.

          Ackley reported the Bohl sisters are very pleased with how the Community Center is doing and the improvements that are going to be made.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Schmidt to a Resolution agreeing to apply for assistance with the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development to finance a new emergency sires. Also to have the siren place in between the City shed and the Fire Department. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to a Resolution to Approve Urban Renewal Plan Amendment for the Bradford Street Economic Development District. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. Carried.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded Schmidt to a Resolution Directing Assessment for Unpaid City Services. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schreiver to a Resolution Directing Assessment for Unpaid City Services. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Schmidt, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Schmidt to set a Special Meeting date for July 19th, 2017 at 6:00p.m.. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Other items discussed: The use of City equipment for removal of cement at park and hauling dirt to fill it in. Also waiting to hear back on a light for the City Park.

          The Community Center is looking into getting quotes for cleanup due to the roof leaking. They are also going to be boarding up some entry ways leading into the old school.
