REGULAR MEETING

OF THE

MARBLE ROCK CITY COUNCIL

Monday November 1, 2018 7:00 P.M.

 

The Regular Meeting of the Marble Rock City Council was called to order with Mayor Engelhardt presiding with Councilpersons Ackley, Marzen, Merfeld, C. Schriever, and T. Schriever. Various citizens were present. Mayor Engelhardt led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to approval of Agenda. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Marzen to open the Public Hearing on the Plans and Specifications, Form of Contract and Estimate of Cost for the Purposed Phase III Water System Improvements Project. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to close the Public Hearing. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Merfeld to approval of agenda and to depart from agenda to accommodate quests. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Mary Brinkman, Diane Black, Hannah Chambers, Christina Schlader, and Kathy Steere spoke to the Council about Holiday activities set for December 1st.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded Schriever to allow the historical society and Marble Rock fun days to close streets for their planned activities. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Rustin Lingbeek from SEH spoke to the council about the Water Project Phase III. Rustin presented the three bids that were received on Oct. 31st. Wunch Construction’s bid: $672,478.15, Mckiness Excavating’s bid: $745,955.00 and Gehrke Inc. Bid: $1,367,316.95.

 

Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to a Resolution finally approving and confirming plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the Phase III Water System Improvements Project. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Merfeld, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. All. Carried.

 

Moved Marzen/seconded Merfeld to a Resolution awarding contract for the Phase III Water System Improvements Project to Wunch Construction with the bid of $672,478.15. Roll: Ayes- Ackley, Marzen, Merfeld, C. Schriever, T. Schriever. All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to return to the Agenda. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

           Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to accept the minutes October 1, 2018 regular Meeting. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

           Moved Marzen/seconded Ackley to approve the monthly reports. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Income for the month of October totaled $14,368.32 which includes:  General Fund $33,974.48, Library Fund $15,144.20, Park Board 0.08, Employee Benefits $5,695.25, Road Revenue Fund $2,751.78, TIF Fund $73,945.16, Landfill-Garbage/Recycling Fund $1,496.86, Sewer Revenue Fund $3,738.17, Water Revenue Fund $7,622.34.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to approval of claims in the amount of: $19,009.59. Roll: Ayes-All. Carried.

          Moved Marzen/seconded T. Schriever to table employee health insurance until next month’s meeting. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

          Moved Ackley/seconded C. Schriever to approval of the Community Center’s hire of Jeff Miller for custodial duties. Roll: Ayes- All. Carried.

 

Other items discussed: The council also talked about amending the Urban Renewal Plan.
